The team was founded back in 1878, firstly known and called as St Domingo's FC (named after a Methodist church based in the Everton district of Liverpool), but one year later the club name was changed to Everton.

The team main nickname is "The Toffees", referring to a toffee shop that was located in the Everton district and that have sold, among others, the "Everton mint".

Everton current logo was chosen by the team fans in 2013 and has in the middle a drawing of the Prince Rupert's Tower that is located in the Everton district and also the Latin club motto "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" that means in translation to English: "Nothing but the best is good enough".

Until today Everton has won 9 English league titles, 5 FA cups and 9 FA community shields. The team has also won 1 European title, the 1985 UEFA cup winners cup.

Liverpool FC is the biggest rivals of Everton and every time the 2 teams from the same city meet, the match is called the "Merseyside derby".

Dixie Dean, Alan Ball, Neville Southall are some of Everton's legends who played for the club for many years and contributed to the legacy and the tradition of Everton FC. 

The Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti is the current manager in Goodison Park and notable players in the 2024/25 Everton squad are the Brazilian Forward Richarlison, English Striker Dominic Calvert Lewin and the French Defender Lucas Digne.
